Edwin C. Walley

BAINBRIDGE - Edwin C. Walley, formerly of Bainbridge, died at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday at his residence, 149 Linden avenue, Springfield. Death was due to a heart ailment which followed an attack of flu suffered two months age.

Born at Wellston, Dec. 14, 1893, he was the son of Henry and Emma Adkins Walley. As a youth he resided in Bainbridge.

Mr. Walley was for 27 years a Methodist minister and served in World War II as an army chaplain. After the war he served a pastorate at Bowling Green, then resigned and entered the teaching profession. He moved to Springfield about a year ago following appointmn=ent as principal of Selma high school in Clark county.

He was a member of the First Baptist church at Springfield and of the Masonic lodge and Zamora shrine at Birmingham, Ala.

Surviving are his wife, the former Alice Shedley; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Lou Abbott and Miss Mildred Walley and a son, Edwin C. Walley, all of Cincinnati; teo stepsons, Donald and Clifford Shedley of McClure, O; his father and a sister, Miss Grace Walley of Bainbridge; a sister, Mrs. Miriam Heaton of Springfield and two grandchildren.

A son, William, was lost at sea in War II when serving as a Marine.

Arrangements are being made by the Richardson Memorial funeral home at Springfield.
